1. Fill a sink or a pan with water.
2. Take a dry sponge and place it on top of the water.
Does the sponge sink or float?
The longer you leave the sponge sitting in the water
the heavier it gets and eventually starts to sink.
3. Take the sponge and submerge (dip) it all the way into
the water with your hand.
4. Squeeze out all the air bubbles and let go of the sponge.
Does the sponge sink or float?
As the sponge absorbs the water and has less air pockets,
the heavier it becomes and therefore it will sink lower in the
water instead of floating on top of the water.
