Chemical Reaction Experiment

Colored Crystals

Materials you will need:

• Clear  Plastic Cup
•Table Salt
•Warm Water
• Magnifying Glass
• A Warm Sunny Spot
•Food Colouring
•A Spoon
•A Piece of String
•a Toothpick

Steps:

1. Place around three teaspoons of table salt into the plastic container.
2. Add a little bit of warm water and a few drops of food colouring and stir until the salt has dissolved.
3. Dip the piece of string into the salt water solution.
4. Tie the string to the center of the toothpick and positon the toothpick across the top of the plastic cup to rest.
5.  Place the plastic cup in a warm sunny spot for a few days to allow the water to evaporate.
6. In a few days check to see if the water has evaporated and if so use your magnifying glass to see the coloured crystals you made from the solution.
